China is the world's largest robot market. In 2022, the sales volume of industrial robots in China was 290258 units, an increase of 5% compared to 2021. In recent years, the sales of industrial robots in China have maintained a rapid growth trend, with a compound annual growth rate of about 13% from 2017 to 2022 (Figure 5). In 2022, China's industrial robot sales accounted for approximately 52.5% of the global market share, while just ten years ago in 2012, China's industrial robot sales accounted for only 14% of the global market share. In order to serve the dynamic market of China, domestic and foreign robot suppliers have established production factories in China and continuously increased their production capacity.

Japan is a major robot manufacturing country in the world, accounting for approximately 46% of global robot production. In 2022, the sales of industrial robots in Japan increased by 9% to 50413 units, surpassing the pre pandemic level of 49908 units in 2019, but still not reaching the peak level of 55240 units in 2018. The size of Japan's industrial robot market is second only to China, ranking second in the world. The compound annual growth rate of industrial robot sales in Japan from 2017 to 2022 is 2%.
