State Power Investment plans to build a 1GW wind power project in Kazakhstan, while Sany Heavy Energy is considering building a factory in Kazakhstan

Recently, Kazakh President Tokayev began a two-day working visit to China. Tokayev attended the Boao Forum for Asia and met with Chinese leaders, as well as held a series of talks with business people. Through the meeting, it was learned that State Power Investment Corporation plans to construct one GW level wind power project in Kazakhstan, and Sany Heavy Energy is considering building a wind turbine tower, blade, and main equipment manufacturing industrial park in Kazakhstan.


State Power Investment Corporation plans to build a 1GW wind power project in Kazakhstan


During his working visit to China, Kazakh President Tokayev met with Liu Mingsheng, Chairman of China State Power Investment Corporation (SPIC). Both sides discussed the prospects for further strengthening cooperation in the fields of energy and renewable energy during the talks.


According to Liu Mingsheng, State Power Investment Corporation actively carries out work in Kazakhstan. In the past 5 years, the company has built a wind energy project in the city of Zanatas in Kazakhstan and a solar power plant in Karaganda Oblast.

Liu Mingsheng stated that State Power Investment Corporation will continue to implement new investment projects, planning to build wind power plants with a total capacity of 1 gigawatt in Jiangbul and Pavlodar provinces, with a total investment expected to exceed 1 billion US dollars. In addition, State Power Investment Corporation intends to study the prospects of implementing large-scale hydropower projects and constructing gas turbines in Kazakhstan.


President Tokayev pointed out that Kazakhstan intends to attract the best international renewable energy technologies and practices.

Sany Heavy Energy is considering building a tower, blade, and main equipment manufacturing industrial park in Kazakhstan


On March 29th, Kazakh President Tokayev met with Xiang Wenbo, the rotating chairman of Sany Group, and the two sides had in-depth discussions on implementing joint projects in the field of "green" energy. Previously, Sany Heavy Energy had participated in the construction of a wind power plant project with a total installed capacity of 1GW in Kazakhstan. Currently, we are considering building a wind turbine tower, blade, and main equipment manufacturing industrial park in Kazakhstan.


President Tokayev pointed out that Kazakhstan is willing to further deepen cooperation with the Sany Group. Specifically, Kazakhstan has broad prospects for joint production of professional technical equipment and related components. Therefore, it is recommended that Sany Group consider establishing a regional research and development center in Kazakhstan to support the company's business expansion in the Eurasian Economic Union market. At the end of the meeting, the President of Kazakhstan invited Chairman Xiang Wenbo to attend the upcoming Astana International Forum.
